Skincare Services That Are Perfect For Fall & Winter

Updated: Nov 5, 2022

Although summer-like temperatures hang on a bit longer here in St. Pete than in other places, the fact remains that cooler weather is on its way. Even for areas like ours, with less dramatic temperature shifts, this time of year tends to keep us indoors more often due to the busyness of the holiday season, shorter days, and more. This time of year is also known in the medical skincare community as “peel season.” Why? It’s simple, people are spending less time in the sun which makes it easier to properly adhere to the post-procedural care requirements that come with many popular skincare treatments including peels. Today we’ll cover a few of our favorite restorative treatments to offer during the cooler months.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are a popular treatment here in St. Pete because they are a safe and effective way to remove the visible effects of sun damage. Being in a coastal location, we frequently see clients who are looking to repair their skin from years of overexposure to the elements. A peel is a great option for treating melasma, wrinkles, scarring, and other visible signs of aging or sun damage. Our Cosmelan Peel is hailed as one of the most effective treatments for sun damage but, like other peels, requires dedication to steering clear of sun exposure both before and after the treatment.

IPL

Another excellent service that we offer at Coco Med Spa in St. Pete is our IPL Treatment. This treatment also reduces the visible signs of sun damage such as discoloration or issues with skin texture. However, this treatment also requires a commitment to reduced sun exposure before and after the service has been performed. This is not only to ensure a great result from the treatment itself but to avoid damaging the new and healthy skin that is revealed by the treatment.

RF Microneedling

Radiofrequency Microneedling with Morpheus8, is another highly effective, corrective procedure that is best assisted by limited sun exposure pre and post-treatment. This service takes microneedling to the next level by administering radiofrequency to the deeper layers of the skin. This results in more collagen production and really helps to repair aspects of the skin that are broken down over time with repeated sun exposure.

While limiting your sun exposure will always be your best defense against sun damage, it’s wonderful that there are opportunities to repair sun damage, scarring, and the visible signs of aging with these treatments. While you might find that many of these treatments are available year-round, it is much easier to avoid sun exposure when receiving these treatments during cooler months and simply maintain the results year-round.
