Jawline and Masseter Botox Available in St. Pete
If you’ve heard the terms “Jawline Botox” or “Masseter Botox” you may have thought they were the same service, with interchangeable names. However, though close in proximity, these are two different Botox services that serve different clients and symptoms.
What is Jawline Botox?
Jawline Botox targets what is known as the DAO muscle and the upper portion of the platysmal muscle. These muscles tend to pull the skin around the mouth and jawline down as we age and contribute to jowling. Treating the jawline with Botox helps to relax the muscle in an upward direction which helps the skin hug the jawline. Jawline Botox is a great preventative treatment as it provides subtle improvements, prevents the muscle from pulling skin down, and slows down jowl development.
What is Masseter Botox?
Masseter Botox is a separate service that targets the masseter muscle. Masseter Botox is a common service for people looking for relief from TMJ pain, or excessive clenching. The masseter muscle can become tight and painful from bruxism (teeth grinding). Botox injections relax the muscle and can provide pain relief. Masseter Botox can also help with facial slimming over time when treated with a high dose of Botox. The muscle will atrophy as a result of treatment and become smaller, slimming the face around the back of the jaw.
