At Coco Med Spa, we offer a variety of treatments designed to relax and rejuvenate. However, since we are a medical spa, we often treat a variety of common conditions as well. Treatments like neurotoxins, lasers, and more can be used to reduce or prevent the symptoms of a variety of conditions. Today, we’re discussing Hyperhidrosis and the treatment options that we provide at Coco Med Spa.
What is Hyperhidrosis?
Hyperhidrosis is a condition that is characterized by excessive sweating that is not caused by external factors that would normally cause sweating, like exercise or hot outdoor temperatures. This condition is more common in women and tends to appear around or after puberty. Individuals who have hyperhidrosis may experience excessive sweating in the armpits, trunk, hands, or face although it can happen anywhere on the body that has sweat glands.
How is Hyperhidrosis treated?
There are a variety of ways to treat or manage hyperhidrosis. At Coco Med Spa we offer two ways to treat it. The first is with our Morpheus8 technology, and the second is with neurotoxins.
Morpheus 8
Morpheus8 is a radiofrequency tool that can be used in a variety of ways. In the case of hyperhidrosis, radiofrequency is used to target and desensitize sweat glands, eliminating their ability to overproduce sweat. Treatment can be completed in a series of three treatments that are spaced four weeks apart. Upon completion, the treated area should not require additional treatment.
Neurotoxins
Another treatment option is to use injectable neurotoxins like Botox. When treating hyperhidrosis with this method, the neurotoxin is injected to block the nerve signals that cause excessive sweating. This treatment generally has to be repeated about every 6 months to maintain the reduction or elimination of symptoms.
Which treatment is right for me?
As with any medical treatment, it’s best to consult with your nurse injector about your unique situation and needs. However, these are the general recommendations for each method. Treatment of hyperhidrosis with Morpheus8 is an excellent option for anyone suffering from severe hyperhidrosis looking for a permanent solution. Treatment by neurotoxins is a good temporary treatment for individuals who are able to return for maintenance every 6 months.
