The Truth About Unrealistic Aesthetic Expectations

Social media can be a wonderful, helpful tool in so many ways. However, it’s a key player that can really do a number on our expectations when it comes to beauty treatments. With AI and filters becoming more common and less noticeable, it can be very easy to miss misleading images that affect our own self-perception and expectations of beauty treatments. Let’s talk about some common misconceptions we come across in our industry and set the record straight about the danger of unrealistic aesthetic expectations.
Common misconception #1
Frequently, new clients come in with the misconception that one treatment (like Botox or cheek filler) will immediately cause them to look very young or to closely resemble their (celebrity) inspiration photo. This is wrong for many reasons. First, treatments like lasers, Botox, cheek filler, and more require time and usually multiple conservative applications to create a drastic change. Secondly, we’re not in the business of giving people a face that isn’t theirs. While we can absolutely bring the best of all your features out over time, we commit to your results over time and achieve them in a way that ensures you still look like you.
Common misconception #2
Some clients also come to us with the misunderstanding that one treatment is all you need for permanent results. Just as it takes repeated maintenance to gain and maintain muscle, similarly, results from services take time to achieve and repeated treatments to maintain. This isn’t to say you won’t see immediate improvements in some cases, but most of our treatments do require commitment to the process and to maintenance, to achieve and keep maximum results.
The reality of aesthetic medicine
At Coco Med Spa, our goal is not only to treat but to educate. An informed client can better advocate for what they’d like to see, and they can better understand the process needed to get there. We spend a lot of time debunking social media trends, explaining the realities of different services, and giving behind-the-scenes details that lots of other places leave out in order to make more money. Our process ends in a client relationship built on trust and integrity, always following with results that they truly love.
Whether you’re coming to us in St. Pete for Botox or another treatment, we look forward to meeting you, sharing our knowledge, and coming up with a treatment plan based on mutual understanding and full transparency about the process. We’re proud of that, and we hope you’ll appreciate our approach too!
