Botox St. Pete

The ‘tox conversation is one we have regularly with clients. Since there are many different brands of neurotoxins on the market, it can feel like there’s a lot to choose from. Luckily, at Coco Med Spa, we’re incredibly well-versed in the nuances of each brand and which injectable provides which kind of result. Today, we’ll discuss the differences and a few of the considerations we make when deciding which injectable neurotoxin is best for you.

What is Botox, and how is it different from other neurotoxins?

Although Botox has become somewhat of a “catch-all” term for all neurotoxins, it’s actually a specific brand of neurotoxin. It’s perhaps one of the older and better-known brands; however, that doesn’t automatically mean that it’s the only neurotoxin available. Depending on your needs, we’ll decide if Botox or another neuromodulator is best for you. Botox uses botulinum toxin type A and is known for staying more localized and concentrated in the area that it’s injected into.

Is Jeuveau the same as Botox? What is 'Newtox'?

Jeuveau uses prabotulinum toxin A as its active neurotoxin and is newer on the market than Botox. Jeuveau is also approved specifically for cosmetic use, whereas Botox has some history in medical applications before aesthetic applications. Sometimes you may hear Jeuveau referred to as “Newtox.” For some clients, Jeuveau may provide results a couple of days faster than Botox, but speed can be a little different for each person.

What's the difference between Xeomin and Dysport?

Xeomin is sometimes referred to as a “naked” neurotoxin because it lacks accessory proteins in it that other neurotoxins have. For this reason, it is marketed as a neurotoxin formulated without animal-derived ingredients. It is also known as a ‘tox that clients are less likely to develop resistance to due to a lack of the accessory proteins. While there are a few reasons one could develop neurotoxin resistance, overuse is by far the most common.

Nurse Practitioner injector and co-owner of Coco Med Spa, Amy Nguyen says, “I'm very strict about not letting people come in to retreat sooner than 90 days in between treatments. And if anything, I like them to go even longer than that. So, it really doesn't matter what product is used. I'm not worried about resistance.” However, our high standards for treatment are always for our clients' safety, and if you have specific allergies or concerns about resistance, our injectors will discuss your best options during your consultation.

Dysport is known for something known as “spread,” which makes it a great option for treating larger areas. Our injectors are experts in full facial balancing, which means even if one area is being treated, they take a full face approach to ensure changes to the area of treatment either keep or improve balance to the whole face. Knowing which products are best for tiny, targeted treatment vs larger areas like the forehead is all part of the discussion when our providers are choosing the right neurotoxin for you.

Which neurotoxin is right for me — Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, or Jeuveau?

There are a large variety of factors that help us determine which injectable neurotoxin is right for you. This includes the area being treated, what neurotoxins may have previously been used, the anatomy of each individual, previous experiences with past neurotoxins, and the desired outcome. There isn’t necessarily one clear winner of ‘tox that we use on everyone. Your experience is customized from start to finish every time you come through our doors. The consultation is always collaborative and combines our expertise and understanding of the products available with your desired outcome and maintenance plans.

For areas like underarms, Botox and Xeomin are options. For the forehead, we may suggest Dysport. For areas in the lower face, Jeuveau is a popular choice. However, all of these ‘tox brands can be used in different ways in different areas, and the decision will be made during your consultation with us.

Our results speak for themselves

“I’ve had Botox done by Zoey three times now, and every experience has been excellent. Zoey is incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and thorough. She takes the time to explain the process, answer questions, and make sure you’re comfortable every step of the way. What stands out most is her attention to detail and how much she genuinely cares about her clients. I never feel rushed, and I always leave feeling confident in both my results and the care I received. My Botox has looked natural every time, and I’ve been extremely happy with the outcome. If you’re considering Botox or other aesthetic treatments, I highly recommend Zoey. Her expertise, professionalism, and genuine care for her clients make her someone you can trust completely.” - Leslie G.

Whichever neurotoxin we use, our goal is for you to feel confident, happy with the results, and like the best version of yourself.
