Have you ever wondered what treatments your favorite injectors love and use? Are they using Botox, lasers, or your favorite skincare too? Today we’re spilling all the details. We sat down with the expert injectors of Coco Med, Spa Amy Nguyen (APRN and Co-founder) and Jessica Suber (PA-C), to discuss the treatments they love and how they’re addressing some of their skin concerns. Get comfy, let’s dive in!
Q: What skincare concerns do you have, and what injectable or laser treatments are you currently using?
Amy: I have occasional breakouts and some sun spots are starting to appear high on my cheeks. I’m also starting to see static lines in between my eyebrows and my jawline isn’t as sharp as it used to be. To combat the static lines and jawline skin, I get tox treatments (I like Jeuveau). For my other skin concerns, I like to get a MOXI treatment a couple of times a year. I also get PRF injections under my eyes once a year to maintain youthful skin underneath the eyes.
Jessica: The skin changes with aging, and what I’ve noticed the most would be the texture of my skin i.e. fine lines, pore size, and gradual loss of collagen and elastin. To help battle the aging process of my skin, I’ve been consistent with skincare and lasers. I believe both work synergistically with each other to help the skin age better, so I wouldn’t say one is better than the other.
Q: How long are you undergoing these treatments?
Amy: I have ‘tox treatments every 4 months and MOXI laser treatments 2-3 times a year. PRF injections, I get once a year. Other occasional treatments when I’m just feeling in the mood also include filler, chemical peels (I prefer BioRepeel), microneedling, and Aquagold.
Jessica: I do skincare daily, morning and night. I get a MOXI laser treatment every six months and do Skin Smooth in between to help with the collagen and elastin.
Q: What skincare concerns are you treating with products and what do you think about the products?
Amy: I’m not super consistent with skincare products at home (that’s why I lean on in-office treatments), but I am strict about daily SPF. My favorite product is Alastin’s Hydratint – it’s a tinted SPF that also has anti-aging benefits. I usually layer that over SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic (my favorite vitamin C serum). At night is when I’m not as consistent, although I always wash my face thoroughly – I love a double cleanse. When I’m being good, I use Plated, SkinBetter’s Even Tone, SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore, and SkinBetter’s AlphaRet, in that order. My skin looks SO good when I’m consistent with these products; I mostly see an improvement in breakouts, lightening of dark spots, and my skin glows. For an extra glow and on a night that I’m skipping the AlphaRet, I love Alastin’s Resurface Skin Polish. It’s such a good exfoliator.
Jessica: Plated skincare serum is my #1 go-to product. I never miss a day of it. The stem cells in the serum help fine lines, pore size, hyperpigmentation, and redness. It also helps stimulate collagen and elastin, making your skin look more resilient and giving it a beautiful glow.
As you can see, both Amy and Jessica have unique routines that fit their own personal needs. While there is some overlap in services they love, they each have their own preferred products and skin maintenance services. This is to show that while treatments like Botox, filler, and other services are wonderful and have a place in many people’s routines, the frequency and type of service should always be customized to you, the individual.
