Laser Treatment St. Pete

Struggling to find the right time to lock into your laser treatments while living in sunny St. Petersburg? Trust us, you’re not alone. While there might never be a perfect time for everyone, there are some easier times of year than others. This is largely dependent on lifestyle, temperature preferences, and your personal schedule. Let’s get into it.

How far before summer should I book a laser treatment?

Generally, you should avoid sun exposure for 2-3 weeks before and after any laser treatments. If you have any outdoor-focused adventures within that time frame, we recommend waiting until a time when you’ll be indoors more frequently. It’s not necessarily that you have to be done “before summer,” you just need to avoid lasers during your peak sun exposure time. If you’re someone who enjoys the milder warm temperatures of spring but sticks to the inside and the air conditioning during the hottest summer months, then that would be your ideal time to schedule laser services.

What are the risks of summertime laser treatments?

If you’re a regular beachgoer, frequently boat, or simply spend a lot of time exercising or playing outdoors, summer is not the right time for laser services and treatments. There are too many risks of damaging your skin. Laser treatments are an investment. They show results over the long term and must be maintained and cared for for you to see the results you’re paying for. In addition to negating the benefits of your new laser treatments, you can also cause additional harm and complications like burns, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), and resistant/stubborn treatment areas.

How to care for post-laser skin during warm weather

If you did the right thing and got laser treatments with us in St. Pete during the “inside” months, there are steps you can take to preserve your results without limiting your outdoor fun. The first and most important step? Sunscreen. Daily sunscreen and diligent reapplication are your simplest but most effective line of defense against sun damage. Find a good hat or visor and stay in shaded areas as much as possible, limiting prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Stay hydrated and moisturized as well!

If you’re ready to find out if now is the right time for your laser treatment, feel free to give us a call and schedule a consultation. We’ll discuss your lifestyle, upcoming obligations, and capacity for maintenance, and determine when the best time to get a laser treatment is for you. We can’t wait to hear from you!
