Updated: Nov 5, 2022

So you’re ready to try Morpheus8 RF Microneedling! Trust us, we are just as excited as you. Whether you’ve already made your appointment, or you're still doing preliminary research, we’ve compiled all the information you need to prepare, to know what to expect, and to get the most out of your treatment once it’s complete. Let’s dive right in!

How do I prepare?

The purpose of preparations for any skincare service is to ensure that your skin is in the right condition to safely receive the treatment and to get the most out of it. Although your provider will likely ask you a series of questions to ensure you’ve properly prepared, it’s much easier to know ahead of time to avoid the risk of needing to reschedule your appointment. Medications like antibiotics, pain relievers, or blood thinners should be avoided for a minimum of 24 hours (antibiotics may be longer) prior to your treatment. You should avoid all exfoliants, both physical and chemical, like retinoids. Finally, limit your sun exposure prior to your RF microneedling treatment, and please reschedule if you have a sunburn.

What can I expect?

When you arrive you will consult with your skin care professional regarding your treatment to discuss your skincare concerns and what the treatment will address. You will be prepped with a numbing agent and a choice of the addition of nitrous oxide to minimize discomfort. The appointment will likely take about two hours between the prep and procedure, and you may experience some warmth. Once the procedure is complete, you will be given instructions for aftercare.

Does it hurt?

RF Microneedling typically is reported to feel like mini pinches, slight scratching, or a very warm sensation. Most people describe discomfort more than pain. In order to make your experience as comfortable as possible, you will be prepped with a topical numbing agent that will set for up to one hour. For added comfort, you may request the addition of nitrous oxide, otherwise known as “laughing gas” during your treatment. What happens afterward?

Post-treatment you may experience some mild discomfort. Symptoms may include redness, warmth, stinging or tingling, and swelling. These should subside within 24-48 hours depending on your skin's sensitivity level and your success in following the aftercare instructions provided to you.
