Summer Skincare St. Pete

When summer feels year-round in St. Pete, it’s easy to let our routines go to the wayside with things like travel, increased poolside events, and just playing outside more in general. However, when it comes to skincare and antiaging, the care you take of your skin in the summer can make or break what reparative treatments you may need later on. Here, we’ll talk about how to treat your skin right, with great skincare products all summer long, so you can reap the benefits in the present and the future.

Top summer skincare red flags

  1. Tanning - and we don’t mean spray tanning, unfortunately. As lovely as it is to bake in the sun or, God forbid, the tanning bed, just don’t.

  2. Skipping sunscreen - even if you’re not a sunbather, this is a big no-no. The amount of sun you get simply going about your normal, partially indoor day is enough to contribute to early aging if you’re not protecting your skin

  3. Skipping hydration - hydration is key. Your body needs it to function, and your skin needs it to thrive. Find a cute water bottle and stick with it!

  4. Roasting in the heat with melasma or rosacea - heat and excess sun exposure can make both conditions worse! Keep cool, keep covered, and stay diligent with your sunscreen.

Our favorite summer skincare products

For daily use, we love Alastin’s Hydratint, but for extended periods of time outdoors, we recommend Skinbetter Sciences’ Sunbetter SPF. It has a higher SPF, and you can reapply easily with the compact version! If you’re a SkinCeuticals fan like us, we love their Physical Fusion Defense. Realistically, what you use is less important than simply using whatever agrees with your skin and lends itself to easy application so that you’ll use it consistently.

Summer skin must-dos

  1. Don’t skip your facials or other regularly scheduled skin maintenance

  2. Stay consistent with your skin care regimen. You can restock with us at Coco Med Spa in St. Pete!

  3. Focus on hydration

  4. Avoid overheating if you’re prone to melasma

Don’t get to the end of the summer with sun damage that you have to spend all winter correcting. Our tips and tricks will help you make the most of your summer fun without sacrificing the hard work you’ve done on your beautiful skin.
