Feeling lost when it comes to creating a skincare routine that serves your needs and promotes healthy, youthful skin this summer? You’re not alone, and we’re here to help. With so many skincare products available on the market, it’s hard to know which ones do what they say and will work for your needs, so this blog will walk you through the basics, including some things to consider when choosing your skincare products.
AM Skincare Suggestions
When it comes to a morning skincare routine, preparation and protection are key. We want to wake up our skin and start the day looking and feeling rejuvenated. It’s also important to protect your skin during your morning routine. The staples here are likely going to be a cleanser, an eye cream, a moisturizer, and a good SPF. If you’re applying makeup, you may include a hydrating or plumping serum as a part of your skin prep. When it comes to your cleanser, consider your skin type. If you’re oily or acne-prone, choose a cleanser that will help control oil and soothe irritation. If you’re dry, a creamy, non-drying cleanser is likely a good choice. Whatever products you choose, make sure you cleanse, moisturize, and protect your skin.
PM skincare suggestions
Evening skincare tends to do a lot of the heavy lifting. If you’re wearing a lot of makeup daily, or are very active and exposed to the elements, we love to recommend a double cleanse. Oil-based cleansers can be very effective at breaking down makeup products as well as breaking up oil and grime that has accumulated from being out and about all day. A second cleanse with something gentler makes sure you go to bed free of dirt, oil, and product residue on the skin from your day. If you’re using a retinol or other very active treatment product, evening is the time to use it! When building your evening routine, ensure you use this part of your regimen to cleanse, moisturize, and treat the skin.
Skincare Brands We Love
No matter what you use for skincare at home, we always recommend medical-grade products. Whether it's cleanser, serum, SPF, or something else, the higher the quality of the product, the better your results. It's important to remember to customize a routine for your personal skin needs, and we carry several brands at Coco Med Spa. Remember in the summer months that humidity and sun can affect what products you should use and when as well. The product lines we carry include:
