What is the difference between a Bikini Wax and a Brazilian Wax?

Have you ever wondered what the difference is between a bikini wax and a Brazilian wax? If so, you’re not alone! There are so many different options when it comes to waxing treatments and questions are common. Today we’ll give you insight into the differences and similarities between the services, as well as how to decide which waxing service is right for you.

What is a Bikini Wax?

A bikini wax typically addresses any hair that would show outside of a traditionally cut bikini. This tends to include the crease where the leg meets the pubic area and occasionally a bit of the inner thigh. Everyones hair grows differently in this area so you may have more or less to wax. This is a perfect treatment for those who do not wish to have any visible hair extending beyond their bikini (bathing suit or underwear) but may prefer to leave or simply trim the rest of the hair on the pubic mound and beyond.

What is a Brazilian Wax?

A Brazilian wax removes hair from the entire genital area including the entire bikini line, pubic area, labia, and a butt strip to remove hair around the anus as well as between the pubic area and the anus. The purpose is to have no hair left at all although some clients prefer to leave a small section of hair on the pubic mound, otherwise known as the mons pubis.

Which one is right for me?

The answer to this question is completely up to you. Factors you may want to consider are comfort, skin sensitivity, upkeep, and cost. As it removes more hair and is a more in-depth service, a Brazilian wax costs more than a bikini wax. Your desire to shave/trim or not may also play a role in your decision-making process. Additionally, waxing can be a great way to avoid ingrown hairs and irritation so determining if you have sensitive skin in the entire area, or just the bikini area, might also be helpful in choosing. If you’re unsure, you can always try both services.
